Museums and Large Scale Static Displays.
We offer a range of services for Museums including Display Case Manufacture and theming
of the internal surfaces.

Something new in the world of Museum displays can be hard to find. Tropical House make no apology about their roots being in live animal displays and theming. However transferring the skill we have in cabinet making, natural presentation and theming of Theme Parks and Zoo exhibits over to Museum displays has resulted in a unique product. Our spciality is making a live animals habitat, within a relatively small area, look as it would in nature. We can recreate this using techniques we have perfected in our own industry and produce the perfect combination of still
life and natural backdrop. Our team of joiners and glass professionals are able to produce cabinets with either a traditional hard wood finish or a more modern, aluminium look. Because we are not a cabinet manufacturer there is no such thing, for us, as off the shelf. Each unit is made to your specifications and finished to the highest standard. Our team of technicians will fit this in situ and ensure everything is as it should be, ready to receive its contents. We can then create mountains, vegetation, underwater scapes etc, anything you want. If you tell us what is going in we can even produce design drawings with ideas for making it interactive and exciting. In other words what better a supplier to bring your display to life than a company that sets up displays for live animals. In fact we are currently working with The National Museum of Scotland, setting up their only live animal display, a colony of South American Leaf Cutting Ants. Prior to that we have worked in many Museums around the world including The Natural History Museum and the Hancock Museum in Newcastle. We have been working in this sector for many years and even supplied displays to the Millenium Dome in 1999-2000. We employ fine artists and a grafitti artist to change things around a bit. We work in resins and concrete, our speciality being realistic rock faces and miniaturized   scenes with figures. Our artists can work with brushes, aerosols or airbrush. In 2005 we were asked by a museum in Austria to supply them with around 5000 Eciton burchelli, South American army
ants for mounting in an exhibit where they arranged each of these ants as part of a scene depicting the raid of a swarm of army ants through the jungle. I travel extensively throughout Central and South America as part of the work I do filming wildlife documentaries and in the course of this work I have the opportunity to source unusual and interesting material should it be of interest. Please contact me is interested. In addition to this Tropical House owns the largest privately owned collection of mounted Butterflies in the country. This  collection (or
part of this collection) is available to loan (free

of charge ) to any interested establishments around the UK provided they are insured and the cost of travel to and from the establishment is covered by the client). I have included some pictures of these below for your examination.

We offer many other services which we think you will find relevant to your work. I have selected 5 of them below. Please have a look and give us your feedback. If you would like us to answer any questions please contact us.
